Troldtekt Storage

Before installation of Troldtekt®

It is important that the Troldtekt panels are stored horizontally with proper support, e.g. on pallets or battens.

Outdoor storage
If it is necessary to store Troldtekt panels outdoors, you should protect the panels using a tarpaulin or similar. Please note that outdoor storage should be as brief as possible and never directly on the ground.

Indoor storage
If you store Troldtekt panels indoors, you must remove any packaging, as condensation could otherwise form within the packaging. Care should be taken to protect stored Troldtekt panels from moisture, direct heat and dust.

Acclimatisation
It is important that the Troldtekt panels are allowed to acclimatise prior to installation. Acclimatisation means that the panels must adapt to the temperature and humidity in the room where they are to be installed.

Troldtekt is a purely natural material consisting of approx. 50% wood, and the panels will therefore ‘work’ to achieve the same temperature and humidity level as their surroundings. Therefore, you should not start installing Troldtekt before the building works have been completed and the heating turned on.

The Troldtekt panels have undergone a drying process before leaving the factory in Troldhede, but during transport or storage, the panels may absorb moisture again. If you install Troldtekt panels without prior acclimatisation, you risk that the panels might shrink after they have been installed, thus creating small shrinkage cracks.

Installation instructions

To ensure that you achieve the best possible result, it is important that you follow our installation instructions when installing the Troldtekt ceiling.

Troldtekt, Maintenance

Use and maintenance

When the Troldtekt ceiling has been installed, it may be necessary to vacuum-clean the panels to remove any processing dust. The panels are easy to clean using a vacuum-cleaner with a brush nozzle.

If the installation process has left lines or other dirt on natural wood panels, you can remove these using a slightly damp cloth or by sanding lightly using fine-grained sandpaper.

Touch-up paint (spray or regular paint) is available as required. The paint has the same colour – white 101 – as the white painted panels. Remember to shake the can well before use!

Troldtekt panels usually require no subsequent care. However, we recommend regular cleaning along with other surfaces – and otherwise as required.

Light cleaning of the panels is easy using a vacuum cleaner with a brush nozzle. If vacuum-cleaning is not sufficient, you can wipe the panels using a slightly damp cloth.

If you subsequently want to paint the Troldtekt ceiling, you can use a long-haired paint roller or a hand sprayer. Water-based paint will not reduce the sound-absorbing properties of the panels.

Troldtekt panels have a life of at least 75 years and are a rugged, durable material, even when subjected to moisture or ball impacts.

The cement gives the acoustic panels their stable shape and moisture tolerance, while the wood ensures they are easy to Work with and suitable for screw mounting.
