Efficient fireproofing

Troldtekt consists of wood and cement, and wood is a combustible material. However, the wood wool in Troldtekt is coated with cement, which makes the wood very hard to ignite and, in case of fire, results in low heat emission and low smoke formation. Therefore, Troldtekt products cannot burn with an open flame, but will only smoulder slowly with low heat emission and low smoke formation.

Troldtekt products are CE-labelled, and this labelling scheme ensures that the products meet the declared fire classification.

Troldtekt declaration
Troldtekt is CE-labelled in accordance with the European norm for cement-bonded wood wool, EN 13168 – Thermal insulation products for buildings – Factory made wood wool (WW) products. As of 1 July 2007, it has been mandatory to use the European harmonised standard under the construction product directive for suspended ceilings, EN 13964. The introduction of this standard means that the many different national classifications for suspended ceilings in the European market have now been harmonised. According to the new classification, the Danish Building Regulation requirements for fireproofing properties for suspended ceilings are now: B-s1,d0 or better.

  • Troldtekt products are CE-certified and comply with the B-s1,d0 fireproofing requirements.

The European standard for cement-bonded wood wool panels, EN 13168, applies to the products in general and is sufficient if you are using cement-bonded wood wool for other purposes than suspended ceilings – e.g. for ordinary ceilings installed directly on battens.

We cannot be certain whether the Troldtekt panels are in fact being used for suspended ceilings or not. For this reason, Troldtekt A/S therefore label Troldtekt panels in accordance with both standards, EN 13168 and EN 13964, in order to provide our customers optimum assurance.
