A Touch of Taste in Every Respect

The culinary team of the Wirtshaus in der Hansenmühle offers traditional specialties, such as pork knuckles, as well as a large choice of burgers and other tasty dishes. After an extensive renovation, the restaurant in Alzey, some 30 kilometres south-east of Mainz, has become a cherished and popular destination in the ‘secret capital of Rhenish Hesse’.

The contemporary design of the entrance area, with floor-to-ceiling windows framed with black panels, makes an immediate impact. The light-coloured rocks and green plants form a lively contrast, lending the space a Mediterranean flair.

The large and lovingly designed beer garden, which seats more than 100 people, is especially popular among guests. Cool beverages taste twice as nice when consumed at the round wooden tables under large, shady trees. At the same time, the kids can go wild on the adjacent playground, another new addition.

The interior of the tavern has also been designed to be welcoming and cosy and is tastefully furnished. Light walls and contrasting dark window frames and furniture made of wood and stainless steel create a harmonious atmosphere. The bar counter has a rustic cladding and blends perfectly into the light-filled, airy restaurant area.

The meticulously designed decor includes large wooden vats, straw bales and wooden boxes, a dark wooden chest and driftwood pieces over the bar counter. A particularly cosy mood is created by the fireplace and the pile of logs. The illumination is provided by lamps suspended from the ceiling in different designs as well as spotlights integrated into the ceiling.

The flooring comprises large, light-coloured tiles and dark wood-effect laminate. Both perfectly complement the black Troldtekt acoustic ceiling panels, which enhance the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant area. The acoustic panels provide effective fire protection, have a sound-absorbing effect in the open-plan design and are entirely made of the natural material wood and cement.
