Quiet for what really matters

Rasmus Gorm Pedersen is CEO and co-owner of Vitani A/S and in 2010 commissioned this architect-designed 260 sqm single family house in Ry Denmark, a stone’s throw from the woods.

The house was conceived as a beautiful, warm and friendly family environment where he and his wife could live with their two young children. Good acoustics and a pleasant indoor climate contribute to an attractive and practical working environment.

Several professionals were involved in the design phase and their advice has meant that every aspect of the house has been considered down to the smallest detail. The wood on the facade is sourced from responsibly managed forests, the Troldtekt wood wool ceilings ensure good acoustics and, together with the ventilation system, contribute to a good indoor climate. There is even rainwater harvesting in the garden and solar cells on the roof.

“The sustainable solutions which have been implemented give us a clear conscience while also helping to cut running costs. We might not be environmental fanatics in our family but we still use the big outdoors for sport and leisure activities. Therefore we have felt a certain responsibility towards the countryside and the environment in designing our house,” says Rasmus.

“It doesn’t cost extra to combine good acoustics, nice architecture and sustainable solutions when they are integrated from the outset. All it requires is just careful planning and competent advice before construction starts,” he adds.
