Open house

Psykiatriens Hus Marselisborg was established within the former Marselisborg Hospital, where the institution’s offerings and activities have been designed with a focus on intimacy and comfort.

The facility is a collaboration between the region and the municipality that is not aimed at treating acute mental illness, but instead at helping people with a variety of outpatient needs across a broad social and psychiatric spectrum.

The Emergency Social Services Unit has an office in the building as does the home treatment team. Courses for the Recovery School and open counselling also take place in Psykiatriens Hus.

In one unit, 8 regional and 8 communal rooms have been set up for outpatient accommodation, decorated in a homey style with ordinary furnishings so that the rooms are not experienced by patients as hospital-like. Here, Troldtekt acoustic panels were selected for the ceilings which, and, in addition to creating pleasant acoustics, they enhance the space with character and texture, in contrast to the smooth walls.

A good setting in which to be seen and heard

The welcoming and personal approach of the facility is apparent as soon as you enter. The style of the furnishings and fittings were deliberately selected to be as far as possible from that of municipal offices or treatment settings. Here, all individuals are to feel welcome and comfortable about engaging in activities, courses or therapy.

The former clinic building has been converted into Psykiatriens Hus and adapted to the needs for both smaller conversation rooms and larger activity and living spaces. A café near the rooms is designed as an extension of the corridor area and is therefore a place where people naturally pass by and greet each other.

Troldtekt panels are a recurring material throughout the building, which literally creates a calm atmosphere but also lends character to how the facility is experienced.
