Renovated 1970s house in Riisvangen

“Installing Troldtekt acoustic ceilings was the best decision we made in connection with renovating our house,” say Klaus Jensen and Mette Nedergaard.

In 2014, the couple moved into a 1970s single-family house in Riisvangen in the north of Aarhus – only a few hundred metres from the woods, the beach and the popular district of Trøjborg, it was their dream location. However, brown tongue-and-groove wood ceilings, floral wallpaper and wall-to-wall carpets left much to be desired to bring the decor of the house into line with its location.

“We soon realised that we needed help with all the considerations and decision-making that was needed to achieve our dream home,” says Klaus Jensen. The couple teamed up with an architect in the family, who listened to their wishes and provided valuable input on the renovation, materials and layout.

As for many other people, the couple’s home serves as an oasis in their busy daily lives, where good acoustics are key to ensuring a relaxing and healthy family life. The architect therefore recommended a Troldtekt ceiling.

“We live busy lives, and our house is a sanctuary where we and our children can recharge out batteries together. We know from experience how too much noise and general clutter causes bad feelings between us and our children.”

Troldtekt acoustic ceilings create a particularly calm and pleasant acoustic environment, and, not least, a rustic, cosmetic contrast with the materials and furniture in the rest of the house. That means a lot to us. Our family life is basically much easier and happier now,” says Klaus Jensen.

“And there’s no longer any need to discuss whether Klaus’s music system and speakers should be in the living room, the kitchen or the garage,” adds Mette with a wry smile.

The couple have installed Troldtekt speakers above the ceilings in the kitchen and living room so they can play wirelessly and independently of each other via their smartphones.
