Corporate headquarters of HAHN + KOLB

HAHN + KOLB Werkzeuge GmbH makes a clear statement with the development of its new corporate headquarters in Ludwigsburg. The innovative spirit of the distribution and technology centre is manifest on more than just an architectural level: the entire development is distinguished by a very particular geometry.

The building's shapes and forms are based on a sustainable energy concept that allows for a resource-saving energy supply. The corporate headquarters, with approx. 300 office workplaces, as well as a logistics building with shuttle and high-bay racks and additional office space, were built in just 13 months on the 4.8 ha plot in west Ludwigsburg.

Access to the three-sided, fully glazed distribution and technology centre is at the north façade of the building, which reaches a height of about 20 metres at a 45° inclination.

The south-facing façades, also sloping at an inclination of 45°, are fully covered with photovoltaic units and form part of the building concept developed according to zero-energy standards. Together with the innovative heating and air conditioning system (geothermal energy), these units are part of the concept for power generation and climate control within the building.

The flat roofs, designed as green roofs, serve as compensation areas for the sealed internal areas, and HAHN + KOLB Werkzeuge GmbH further underscore their ecological commitment with the geothermal field.

The Troldtekt acoustic panels used to create open-space offices, seminar rooms and the company restaurant also contribute to sustainability and ecology, whilst also ensuring good room acoustics. The installed ceiling panels have excellent sound-absorbing properties and ensure a pleasant atmosphere, especially in the two-storey, spacious restaurant area.
