Scandinavian design

The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in every home and is usually the largest element of the fittings and furnishings. Recognising this, Jeppe Christensen and Michael Andersen have revolutionised the kitchen market with their design company Reform.

The Danish mission: To produce high-quality, aesthetically sophisticated designer kitchens that are unbeatable value for money compared to other designer kitchens. This is made possible by combining IKEA kitchen cabinets with designer fronts and worktops designed for Reform by internationally acclaimed Danish architects and produced in Europe from sustainable materials.

For customers who want to get an idea of the timelessly beautiful Reform kitchens that are affordable even for small budgets, the showroom in Berlin that opened in 2017 is just the right place. The store is located in a majestic old building in the heart of the trendy metropolis of the German capital, just five minutes from Alexanderplatz.

Continuing to expand for a better experience

Further showrooms were opened in Cologne and Hamburg in 2020 in order to reach more customers in Germany and to give them a better experience in planning and buying a kitchen than Reform Küchen’s online portal alone can.

As in Berlin, locations with great potential demand were chosen. The two new premises are located in Cologne’s Old Town and in Hamburg’s trendy Ottensen district. The choice of the premises and the fittings in the three showrooms is based on a well-studied concept. While the properties exhibit all the old character of the buildings typical of each district, modern design is presented in the minimalist, calm ambience of the premises themselves.

The kitchen in focus

The floor-to-ceiling windows that grace the charming facades allow an initial glimpse into the interior. Spacious, light-flooded rooms with large windows and high ceilings invite customers to take their time browsing. The showrooms are open and appealing because the individual rooms are not connected by doors, but by wide passageways. There are very few furnishing elements, so the focus is entirely on the kitchens presented. Different designs are presented with varying degrees of prominence depending on the location of each showroom, but the entire product selection is available everywhere.

Floors, walls and ceilings painted in light colours set off the kitchens to advantage and ensure that customers feel relaxed in a peaceful atmosphere where they can get a feel for the typical Reform design. Numerous adjustable ceiling spotlights ensure that the items are displayed in the right light.

Optimised room acoustics

The absence of carpets and window hangings along with the predominantly hard, smooth surfaces resulted in low sound absorption values in the Reform showrooms, increasing the reverberation times, especially in rooms with high ceilings. An effective measure to shorten the reverberation time was to install Troldtekt cement-bonded wood wool panels on the ceilings.
