Troldtekt acoustic panels of cement-bonded wood wool have the outstanding properties of their raw materials: robustness and strength from cement and natural breathability from wood. The combination of wood and cement gives the panels their superior acoustic properties which help keep reverberation time down – an important factor in spaces where physical activity takes place.

At the same time, the panels can absorb and release moisture so that they can maintain a stable shape over time, even in environments with fluctuating humidity levels. If the air humidity in a room changes by one percentage point, the panel dimensions only change by 0.005 per cent.

Withstands hard ball impacts

When a ball comes hurtling at full speed into ceilings and walls, it impacts the material on the surface. Therefore, there are special requirements for ceiling and wall cladding in sports centres, gymnasiums and the like. In the CE standard for suspended ceilings, EN 13964, ball impact certification is a parameter.

A wide range of ceiling and wall structures with Troldtekt have been tested for ball impact – and approved – at the MPA Otto Graf Institute at the University of Stuttgart. Testing a ceiling is performed by firing a ball  against the test ceiling a total of 36 times from two different angles. Walls must be able to withstand 54 impacts at a higher speed.
