How we use renewable energy

At Troldtekt, we are approaching 100 per cent renewable energy in our production. A large part of the energy is generated at our own factory site.

Energy is one of the four focus areas in Kingspan’s sustainability programme, Planet Passionate. This is also an area where we are well ahead of our targets in several respects.

The programme's goals focus on using renewable energy sources in building material production and ensuring Kingspan companies generate a portion of energy at their own factory sites.

At Troldtekt, we have our own biochip boiler, which ensures heat energy for production. This brings us up to approximately 65 per cent energy production on our own site (2024 figures), which is far ahead of Kingspan’s 2030 goal.

All energy for electricity in production is based on wind power. Combined with biochips, this means that close to 100 per cent of our total energy consumption for the factory in Troldhede comes from renewable energy sources. In recent years, the figure has been 95–98 per cent, which is also higher than Kingspan’s 2030 goal.

Kingspan’s sustainability programme also includes a goal that by 2030, all of the Group’s factories will produce electricity via solar panels. Troldtekt’s plan is to install solar panels on the roofs of several factory buildings in 2025.
