Incredible acoustics, healthy air quality and a carefully considered design. There is a need to improve a large proportion of the 473 schools in Hamburg, in order to provide pupils with the best possible conditions for learning. This need has increased, as 6,000 more pupils have moved to the area in the last year, including many children from Ukraine.

This is why politicians have now allocated EUR 845 million to improve the physical surroundings in 2023 and 2024. The funds will be allocated for both newbuilds and renovation projects and there is a focus on solutions where the manufacturers behind work with sustainability initiatives.

At the SCHULBAU trade fair, decision-makers, architects and other professionals will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of solutions. There are also several inspirational talks and sessions on the programme.

All this will take place on the 19th and 20th of September at the Hamburger Cruise Centre Altona. Troldtekt will be in attendance with an inspirational stand and presentations in the Experten Lab at the fair.

Popular solution for newbuilds and renovation projects

You can experience the Cradle to Cradle gold-certified Troldtekt acoustic solutions, made from certified Danish wood and Danish cement, at stand 34.

This time, Troldtekt will use its stand to showcase the distinctive and award-winning Troldtekt design solutions based on the low-carbon cement technology, FUTURECEMTM. Troldtekt panels made from FUTURECEM have a carbon footprint, measured across the entire service life of the product, that is 26 and 38 per cent lower than Troldtekt products made from traditional grey and white cement respectively.

Troldtekt is a popular choice for both newbuilds and school renovation projects in Germany and the rest of northern Europe. The solutions make a positive difference in relation to acoustics, air quality, lighting, design, durability and life cycle costs.

At the SCHULBAU trade fair in Hamburg, Troldtekt will present a brand-new issue of an inspirational magazine, showcasing schools, including 18 schools and childcare facilities in Germany, an Austrian school and two Danish school projects.

Healthy materials are essential

On Wednesday 20th of September at 2 PM, the Head of Sustainability & Communications at Troldtekt A/S and Troldtekt GmbH, Tina Snedker Kristensen, will take to the stage in the SCHULBAU trade fair Experten Lab. She will deliver a talk on the importance of using healthy materials for school buildings and making healthy choices.

Tina Snedker Kristensen has extensive experience of the construction industry and, for the past decade, she has helped drive Troldtekt's business strategy, which is based on the Cradle to Cradle design concept.

In practice, this means that Troldtekt works systematically on material health, re-utilisation, sustainable energy, water and corporate social responsibility. In 2022, all Troldtekt cement-bonded wood wool products in natural and standard colours of white, grey and black advanced  from silver to gold in the Cradle to Cradle certification. The products have also achieved the highest certification level, platinum, in the material health category.
