Ceilings, walls, furniture and other materials for interior design play an important role in the transitioning of the construction industry to a circular economy. The ORGATEC trade fair in Cologne, which is taking place from 25 to 29 October and expected to attract more than 56,000 visitors, will focus on the office of the future.

Part of the fair is the approx. 400-square-metre special Materials4Future exhibition, where visitors can experience 120 innovative and sustainable materials for interior design. The organisers have carefully selected the materials – and one of them is the new Troldtekt acoustic panel based on the cement type FUTURECEM, which was launched on the market in early 2022.

Carbon-reduced cement

At the fair, visitors can experience a Troldtekt v-line acoustic panel, which is manufactured using carbon-reduced FUTURECEM rather than traditional cement. The other raw material in the Troldtekt acoustic panels is certified spruce (FSC®C115450 and PEFC™).

Measured throughout the entire life cycle of the acoustic panels, Troldtekt based on FUTURECEM has a carbon footprint that is 26 and 38 per cent lower than the carbon footprints of Troldtekt based on grey and white cement, respectively.

Earlier in 2022, Troldtekt based on FUTURECEM received a Green Product Award and a German Innovation Award. The solution has also been nominated for the prestigious German Sustainability Award 2023.
