A dream house

For this family in Vejle in Jutland, building their own home was the dream about having a house that met all their domestic and functional requirements, and not least a life which didn’t involve constant house maintenance and all the associated costs.

At a new residential development north of Vejle, the family found an attractive plot of land in scenic surroundings. This is where they decided to build their dream house and enjoy family life. The house was built by 2-Plan Huset, who listened to the family’s wishes in terms of how they wanted the house oriented on the plot. The house has a rustic brick facade, which is also mirrored on one of the interior walls, where the texturality of the bricks has been turned into a decorative element. The largest windows offer views to the north, which prevents overheating in bright sunshine. The house has a simple layout, with a combined entrance and children’s section, while a New Yorker door opens into the kitchen and living room, beyond which is the parent’s bedroom and bathroom.

Home with fine contrasts

Although the family calls themselves ‘new builders’ on social media, they have some experience with interior design from their previous homes. Therefore, there was quite a lot to think about when everything had to be chosen and built from scratch. Good acoustics were high on their wish list, and they looked at many different ceiling types. At café Eydes in Odense, they saw Troldtekt line in natural wood, which they then chose for their home. Sound absorption and elegance combined. Due to a misunderstanding, Troldtekt line white was delivered – but it turned out to be a good solution. In the large living area, the harmonious lounge atmosphere is framed by beautiful, warm wooden floors and floor-length curtains. A central feature is a hybrid fireplace.
