Eye-catching acoustic ceiling in unique interiors

Raw concrete is styled with products from all over the world in the exclusive UniqueRoom furniture, interior & art store. The store is all about design that stands out from the crowd - and that is why the owner chose interesting Troldtekt design solutions.

The UniqueRoom furniture, interior & art store is laid out as a home with a kitchen, bathroom, living rooms and hallway. The style is so uncompromisingly exclusive that it inspires the dreams of architects and design-conscious homeowners alike. The furniture has been flown in from distant continents. There is latte art in the customer coffee and art on the walls from Denmark’s greatest painters.

“I want to inspire my customers by displaying furniture that has edge and a story. Design which is otherwise unavailable in Denmark. Solutions become exciting when designers think outside the box, and when synergies are created between function, quality, design and price. Our interior designs must make people think ‘wow’,” says Nicolai Højgaard, founder and co-owner of UniqueRoom.

What is a modern home?
Nicolai Højgaard has turned his passion for design into a career. From his shop on Amager Strandvej in Copenhagen, he helps homeowners furnish their properties. He has a wide range of customers – from middle-aged couples looking to replace classic Danish design with a sleek and minimalist look.  To nuclear families whose focus is on functionality and comfort. Or the young bon vivant, who is looking for a unique sofa which no one else has.

“There is no such thing as ‘the modern home’. A modern home should reflect the people living there. Therefore, the concept of ‘the modern home’ is as many-sided as we are different. That said, I obviously see common features,” says Nicolai Højgaard.

“Many homes have concrete or completely white walls, which are an anonymous and cold backdrop that requires careful thinking when choosing furniture and soft furnishings etc. I focus on materiality, and I think that wood is an exciting material to work with. It’s vibrant and organic, and therefore contributes warmth and soul to create interesting synergies with hard surfaces.”

Elegant acoustic solutions
The four main rooms at UniqueRoom are fitted with elegant acoustic ceilings. These include classic Troldtekt acoustic panels in natural grey, and the brand new Troldtekt line acoustic panels, which are part of the new range of Troldtekt design solutions.

Troldtekt line acoustic panels have grooves cut lengthwise into the panel surface. Each panel has ten evenly spaced grooves. When the acoustic panels are joined together, the grooves are continuous along the entire surface, creating a seamless look.

“UniqueRoom occupies a concrete shell. This produces a poor sound environment similar to that found in many modern homes, so I looked for an elegant acoustic solution. I’m fascinated by the Troldtekt solutions, because they add long straight lines to the room, which is just fantastic. Visually, the lines add length and depth which the rooms would not otherwise have. In addition to which the acoustics are outstanding,” says Nicolai Højgaard.

“Many of my customers are quite taken by the acoustic ceilings, and are keen to know more. They are often in the middle of a building project, and are therefore interested in how to create good acoustics. Everyone wants their home to be a place where they want to spend time. That is my focus when I help people with interior design,” says Nicolai Højgaard.
